December 31, 2006, 8AM: Played 4 hours, 12 minutes, Made $655.00 at California Grand
$6/12 Texas Hold'em

After the Omaha Hi/Low game broke I jumped into a holdem seat.  I really wasn't happy about jumping in the game, I worked my ass off to pick up the $200 win and I know that one rack in this game can go really fast, the last thing I want to do is dump off my win and go home pissed at myself.

So my intention was to play and only risk $60 although I bought in for $200.  The game is soft and I have two calling station/overbettors on my left.  So when the seat immediatly on their left opens I jump into it.  Made a world of difference to have position on them.

I couldn't leave the game, I wanted to but it was just to easy, it would be criminal to leave, most players were stuck, easily readable and predictable AND I had the perfect perfect seat.  Two rocks on my left that could not lay down mediocre trap hands on my left, and agro bitch 3rd to my left and 4 semi weak calling stations all on my immediate right.  I often trap check raised the field by using the manaic girls aggression.

I don't know what I'm doing right but I am really in a good mindset and playing extremely well right now.  Maybe it is the live game transparency that I miss out on when playing online.  Like this one hand, I raise UTG with QQ and get 6 callers, flop comes down AJ7 two spades, I have black Qs.  Agro donk on my right bets out, I see some value in my hand with running spades, or spikinging a queen, running striaght, shit I could have the best hand, so I peel one, 3 others call, the turn is a 2 and we all check, the river rolls off a 9 and now this guy bets out.  My instinct is to muck, but alarms are going off and I hesitate, I look at the 3 other opponents, one check already so I doubt he has shit and the other two are telgraphing fold, the better bet then checked? That sounds like a busted draw to me or a weak pair.  I call, he shows 95 of spades, pair of 9s on the river busted flush draw and I take down the pot with QQ.  Had this been online poker I would have just mucked on the flop.

I also credit my success to playing very much below my bankroll.  I am under no stress and can get stuck 3 racks and not have it effect me, unlike if it was 15-30 through 30-60, down 3 racks is $1500-3000 and that starts messing with my head a bit.  I think this proves to myself how important it is not only get momentum but to play with a huge bankroll for your current limit.

December 31, 2006, 8AM: Played 3 hours, 24 minutes, Made $204.00 at California Grand
$4/8 Omaha Hi-Lo

This game is not nearly as juicy as the game at Napa Valley Casino.  Don't get me wrong, it is good, but just not the donk fest I'd like it to be.

Since we see the flop 7-10 handed I try to condition these players to cap it once a raise has been made.  Usually I do this by straddling and then if they all just call 3 bet it and beg someone to "save time" and cap it.  Since this joint does not allow live straddles it is just a dead raise and this trick doesn't work.  So, like I usually do when I come in, I raise, but knowone ever re-raises in this game pre.  So, I have to wait for one of them to raise, meaning they have AA2 or A23, and I can 3 bet it, hopefully with all high cards since I am dead if I have A2xx.  Still the little sons of bitches dont cap it! I mean, I saw this guys hand on the river and was like, wtf??? He has A23K double suited to his high cards on the button and the whole feild called pre and he did not raise, wtf is that about? Then I saw this lady have AA24 double suited and just call a raise pre??? Annoying, these guys also like to slow play big hands and wait til the turn or river to raise, just to make sure they don't get their low counterfieted or the board does not pair when they have nut flush, they also do not bet or raise with big draws, like nut flush draw or a wrap, pussies.

So anyways, I gring out a win and as soon as the game is 8 handed for 10 minutes and no new players sit down everyone quits.

December 29, 2006, 6AM: Played 4 hours, Lost $1.00 at Napa Valley Casino
$3/6 Omaha Hi-Lo

Yes, that is no typo, I lost one whole fucking dollar.

What a horrible, terrible, annoying session.  I finally get my seat in this juicy game and pick up some monsters and am up about $250 within an hour.

The next 3 hours I get torched off my stack.  I mean torchered.  Like having A23K, getting 9 donkeys to cap it, flopping AK7 two of my suit, that is nut flush draw, top two and nut low draw.  Capping it on the flop, turning a 3 couterfiting my low but making me nut flush, still getting it capped only to see a 7 roll off on the river and losing to K357, dead to a 7 and some donkey with 255Q drawing to 4th nut low.  I love the action but this hurts.

It was a night of my strong hogger potential hands being destroyed by super rough low drawers backing into better lows and better highs.  Seeing shit hands like 47KQ and 359J splitting huge pots.

THIS FINAL HAND I PLAY WAS VERY INTERESTING, I have 3h 4d 5d 5h double suited, all red, from the BB.  It is a kill pot and Kenny raises under the gun.  He gernerally ONLY raises with AA or A2.  Everyone calls like usuall so I call.  My dream flop of Ah 2h 9d.  Wrap on the wheel and a gutshot straight flush draw.  It gets bet out by the SB, I'm afraid of raising and having him re-raise with possible AA and losing players(since it is a kill pot and they are afraid of bigger bets) so I call and hope someone else raises.  Kenny raises and loses everyone but the bettor.  The bettor now just calls, I say screw it and 3 bet it.  Kenny just calls now??? (there is no way he has AA if he just calls.  Nor do I put him on the nut flush since he would cap with two pair/set and flush draw) Now the original raiser caps it?? I'm fine with that.

The turn card is a Td, board is now Ah 2h 9d Td.  My hand is way to big now to hit.  The bettor leads out on the turn and I just call.  Kenny now raises it?? So does he have AA?? Doesn't matter to me, if I hit my set of 5's I make a wheel anyways, I am going to either win a huge pot or lose it, there is no inbetween.  They bettor 3 bets and Kenny caps it.  No I am really curious what the maniac capping it has.  There is no way, from how I've seen him play, that this guy has a draw.  He capped on the flop so he should have A29x, or AAxx, 22xx, 99xx.  Either way I still love my hand and am pretty sure one if not both of the flush draws are good.

The maniac calls for a Queen on the River and sure as shit it comes a black Queen, I am stunned/expected to miss, the bettor leads into Kenny after calling the card as it made him top two, Kenny calls and ends up taking down the pot with a set of 10s that he turned.

The hands are truly amazing, almost like the deck was set up, it has been a long time since I've had such a situation like this.  At the time did not realize how far "ahead" I really was with the bonus 5 high flush draws.

HANDS BELOW:

Kenny, A2TT
Maniac, A29Q
Me, 3455

Flop Odds
73%!!

Turn Odds 64% !!!!

I am ironically stuck $1 and get up from the table feeling like I lost 1K.

December 29, 2006, 6AM: Played 1 hour, 24 minutes, Made $35.00 at Napa Valley Casino
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Would rather play this while still waiting for my Omaha game.  Was up about 200 at one point and got in a sticky situation.

I had raised in the BB, then in the SB, both times with AKs and AQs and winning the hands.  On the button I get TT, it was a straddle and 5 people limp, so for the 3rd hand in a row I raise pre.  I make it 30 to go, just about pot and 4 people call me.

The pot is now 338 no flush draw and has a bit more than $150 in it.  They all check to me and I am not sure what to bet.  With no draws I should only get called/raised by a bluff or better hand.  I debate letting a card come off but with 4 other hands andy AKQJ destroys me.  I bet $60 on the button, everyone folds to the last player who raises me $100.  He is a solid player who I rarely see bluff.  I am frozen and don't know what to do.  I try to think of what he could have and most importantly what he thinks I have.  I doubt he has 88 or a 3, if he did he would check call hoping that I catch a pair if I have AK, KQ, AQ.  He most likely has a small/medium pair or A8, or 8x suited, and lastly he could have XX putting me on Ace face me continuation betting the flop with position.

The problem with this situation is what to do.  Do I re-raise and see where he is at? Or do I call.  If I re-raise another 100 half my stack will be in the pot and it will cost me at least $200 to find out how trapped I am.  If I just call and he fires at me again thinking I am weak with no pair again I have to raise all in to protect my hand, plus he could catch a card that beats me on the turn when I just call.  I don't like any of these situations.  I will have to put in most of my chips this hand to find out.

Although I most likely have the best I decide to pass as I don't want to risk my whole stack.  I play a few more hands until my big blind and get out of the game.

If I am going to be a pussy like this I should not be in this game.  I am playing way to bank roll defensive for a No-Limit game.  If I was in my "usuall" mentality I would have read this guy as having 8X, small pair or a bluff and immediately re-raised him.  Probably would have called the $100 and raised another $150-all'in(I had another $350 in chips if I make the $100 call.) If he did have 88, 3x or a bigger pair JJ,QQ,KK,AA so be it.  When I really think back on it he should not have JJ,QQ,KK,AA as if I raised pre and him being in late position he would have had two opportunities to raise, one pre when he was 1st in and especially once I raised on the button and he had 4 players trapped.  Then for him having 3x or 88 he commented earlier on a guy having someone trapped and making the mistake of raising him off the hand.  Which is why I am certain this guy would just have called.  I'm a donkey and too weak.

I will not play NLH anymore unless I get my fury of fire, Strong Like Bull mentality back and risk every dollar I sit down with.

$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Waiting for my Omaha or No Limit Texas Hold'em seat.  Just seems so easy in hold'em when you make hands.

December 28, 2006, 4AM: Played 2 hours, Lost $300.00 at California Grand
$4/8 Omaha Hi-Lo

This game was sick.  After about one hour of play I was down $400.  They play every hand regardless of anything.  I love it.  I had monster hands the 1st hour.  A23K, flop top two nut flush draw, capped every betting round then couiterfiet low and lose high to wheel.  AA2Q, flop overpair and nut low, counterfiet again on river.  A3KT, flop JQ2, wrap and nut flush draw, the turn is a beautiful 8, I need any card but a board pair or 3 on the river, the 9T nut straigt, JQ top two and I cap it.  Damn Q rolls off on the river.

I guess I pushed my draws way way to hard.  But how can you not when you have like 7 way action and so many outs? It would be criminal not to.

Game went south though very quickly, it was like 2am hit and everyone left, guess cause it is a "school" nite and people actually ahve to work.

December 28, 2006, 4AM: Played 3 hours, Made $420.00 at California Grand
$6/12 Texas Hold'em

Was waiting for my omaha8 seat.  Funny thing is my Omaha seat came open and I was up about $20.  The floor made a mistake and skipped over a player ahead of me.  I could have taken the seat but was nice and let the rightful owner of the seat have it and I was 1st up.  So for 30 more minutes I waited and stayed in the Hold'em game, which is how I go from +20 to +420.  Pays to be nice.. finally.

December 27, 2006, 3AM: Played 1 hour, 30 minutes, Lost $50.00 at Napa Valley Casino
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

My seat came open in the Omaha game and I took a break, colored up my chips and set them down, by the time I came back(<10 minutes) the game was breaking.  I looked back at the 6-12 but now that was breaking too.  I thought, "time to lock up the win and go".  But then I looked at an open seat in a juicy NLH game and decided to take a shot.

The game was as usuall incredible.  I baiscally just blinded off and never got involved as I had nothing.  Not bad.

December 27, 2006, 3AM: Played 3 hours, Made $333.00 at Napa Valley Casino
$6/12 Texas Hold'em

Rolled into the NVC and the place was packed.  I was 6th up on the Omaha list, don't like 3-6 hold and like 6th up on the NL list, so I jumped in the 5 handed 6-12 game.

All of a sudden the game filled up and was crazy.  Like 5 way action every hand capped.  I only made two hands the whole time but they paid well.

December 25, 2006, 2AM: Played 3 hours, Lost $397.00 at Napa Valley Casino
$3/6 Omaha Hi-Lo

I am very disapointed in this session.

We decided to run to the Casino after the Christmas Party.

Two things I don't like about this situation,
1. we have to up early so our time is limited
2. Mike does not have his own ride, so once he is done I don't want him sitting around for more than 20 minutes bored off his ass.

Knowing this I think, we'll play 2-4 hours then hit the road.  Not enough time to grind down my patience feels triggered.

After sitting down, I win my 1st hand and feel good.  My next hand I play is A399 double suited, we cap it pre flop.  I get my dream flop of 249 and we cap it again.  The turn is an Ace.  This crack head lady that was capping it bets out.  I'm thinking at best she has AA and doubt she has 35, I think I have 5 outs, 4 outs for a wheel and the case 9, or if she has 35 then I have 12 outs, 3 outs for the wheel to tie and 9 outs to fill up.  Either way it is only one bet to me and a nice pot.  I don't improve and see her disguisting 359J scoop a $200+ pot.  This gets me on a bit of ultra aggressive tilt.  Not so much bad play but more like, pressing every starting hand pre, drawing hand post and made hand post.  It is actually a good thing as crap hands I can't raise with so I muck.

So, I go on a tear to the felt in many kill pots.  Missing my lows and my nut flush draws, and top end wraps.

I did try 3 "advanced" plays that did not pay off.
The 1st was when the river brought a 4 card straight and a flush with 4 players left, 2 of them gave the "fucking river" face and card slap/showing others busted draws, the other showed no interest and was ready to muck.  I was UTG and checked, the next opponent, a "solid" and respected player by these folks bet out, they all fold to me and I raise him, he thinks and thinks and reluctantly calls.  I show my ghetto two pair and he shows top two.  What else could I do? Bet out? I've watched and played with him quite a bit and noticed that he bluffs a ton at high dangerous boards.  Good read, bad result.  May have been better to bet as he has 3 potential callers behind him.

The other time was trying to split my hand.  Had nut flush with the board paired and 3rd nut low.  The button bet all-in on the river with a kill and I was certain he only had one way, so I check raised making them call two bets.  They bother called.  One had 2nd nut low and the other garbage, I did make make half my bet with this play but lost the main pot to the all in who had a full house.

The last attempt I made at making a play was against the same crack head lady that had drawn the 35 wheel.  She was on the kill and I raised pre w/ something like AA3Q.  She riased back and I capped, we went to the flop only 3 ways.  The flop came down 994 two of a suit, she led, I raised, she re-raised and we where heads up so I capped it.  The turn brought a low flush card like the 6.  She led into me now! I can't put her on a hand pre that contains a full house, with 9946 on the board(maybe A299, A269, A249, AA44) So I think she has the flush, Since I have a back up low and possible full I represent the full house and raise, I've seen her play b4 and lead out on the turn after leading on the flop with crap like two pair when the board is ultra dangerous, and then muck on the turn when she is raised.  So, I try it, she should only call with a potential low draw and full house draw.  She calls, river is a big brick.  She checks and I fire again.  She reluctantly calls and rolls over A257 7 high flush and states, "I'm so stuck in this game, don't try and run me off".  I'm like, good timing asshole.  She only had like $400 in front of her and I assumed was in a winning non chasing/stubborn mood.  Wrong.

All in all I ran into some tricky situations, overplayed hands at calling stations when I should have just did like always and just super value bet the shit out of the calling machines.

Glad I left when I did and I will remember to play when I have the time and in the right state of mind.
