Low-limit poker vs. Montana NL poker
This seems to be one of the major issues with Montana and poker as it evolves over time.
I listen (mind you I'm usually working or trapped) to these poeple from all different skill levels/experiences of all types of poker games and I can't decide which game is better to play in terms of making the most money: low-limit hold'em or montana NL hold'em ($300 pot cap, if the pot is made before the river, all players just roll thier hands over and they bring the board and whoever wins wins).
The big detail I keep hearing is protection of "big hands". Now most of the debate I'm exsposed to is over "why is 36 off cracking my black aces EVERY TIME?" Now it's obvious to me how these low-limit games work. You get 9 players at a table with maybe one or two of them who have a clue, and then the majority of the table is made up of compulsive bad gamblers/donkeys just having fun. I've logged lots of hours playing that game and have seen very consistent positive results.
Now lets look at the NL game. You get a few different people at the table. Your 'entertainment' players typically stay away from this game since they don't want to lose thier bankroll on one hand. However, the remaining players at the table are still bad compulsive gamblers with a dose of agression. I don't see a significant difference in how bad or good this game is played. I still watch the black aces get stomped by A-wheel, 36 off, K9 suited.
So which game is really more profitable? Yes you can go on the heat and win $1000 at the NL table where you will never do that in one session in a 3-6 holdem game. But you're also not going to lose $150 on one hand when you make all the right desicions and the donkey calls and cracks you anyways. Also, you can read most any poker book and they all have some comment on how much a 'successful' player should be winning in a paticular limit poker game, but I've never read anything about how much you should expect to win at a NL cash game table.
PS: if you see me in real life and feel the need to tell me about your "bad beats", first, remove your head from your ass and have a nice piping hot cup of shut the fuck up. Log your bad beats, dont force people to listen to them.

Dealer's choice: flop/stud games.
I only win a couple of pots but they were huge since they were hoggers. Was up over 100 chips at one point but I decided to gamble a little and seeing flops and turn cards can be a fast way to squander chips. Would have liked to play longer but had to quit to get some sleep before college

I actually was playing in the game but one of the dealer's working wanted the night off cause she was sick, so I got in the box and got unburried from my 100 chip loss earlier.

I actually came off some chips over this session. First hand I sit down to was QQ on the button, I raise preflop, get 4 callers, flop comes AQx rainbow (im jerking myself off at this point). I raise the turn and get paid off in two spots on the river. Donkeys thought i was bluffing at the five-way pot.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
Started with a bonus 50 in chips to help the game keep going. That's about the only way you can get me to play a cash game NL table. As soon as I stop running bad in almost every big pot i get involved in I might change my opinion about the game. I hate the swings. It's not a fear of making huge bets or moves or calls or whatever,... I just find myself coming out on the shit end of the stick way too often when playing NL.

I finally made myself play tight at a limit table. I never really got involved in big pots. Just won several small pots and grinded it out.

Game got short and turned into a huge gamble-a-thon. I lost a couple pots and just quit. It wasn't a poker game at this point
