$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
Waiting for user "donkey" to get off work and sat in this game.
Not much action. Everyone was playing relatively tight. If there was a raise preflop everyone was on guard.
So I just picked off a few blinds and limp re-raised early a few hands to aquire chips.

mtcarddealer recommended me to this satalite as he says they are easy. He is right. They have no clue how to win a one table. People are slow playing when they don't have time and playing weak hands too hard. Not one person at the table was threatening. You will see more entries with these soon.
After missing the 1st 10 min and just observing play I realized how "easy" the field was. I just needed to avoid beats.
Got down to three players,10K chips in play. I had about 4K, this guy that was tight had about 2K and this maniac chick had about 4K.
I convinced them to "save" $200, meaning if you get 2nd or 3rd you get $200 instead of $00.00 and the winner gets $1,220.
She relucantly agrees and we play.
I get KQs in the BB and she raises to 1500 with 68 off. I think for a bit as I don't want to risk my tourney life on one hand. The thing is, I had seen her all day raising with 64 off and J8 off, especially when we were 4 handed, she was raising almost every hand. So I decide to move all in for 4K since she most likely is stealing and can fold for another 2,500, unlike the previous hands where the all-in re-raise would not warrant a fold, she calls to bust me. Fun stuff.

Waiting for my omaha seat. Wow, how the games have changed here in the past few years. Not sure if it because of all the new players and/or that it is during the World Series of Poker but the play is not as strong as it used to be.
Should have stayed in this game. Although I could make more in the omaha my game was on and the table had a perfect line up.

$10/20 Omaha
Talk about one annoying fucking game.
Game has a list of 5 players. I'm 5th in line. I am on the phone so I miss my seat call and finally wander over to see my seat open. There are 8 players all racking up???
I sit down and then still it takes a miracle for half of them to stay. 20 minutes later the game is full again with a list.
I hate this game in casinos lately. The dealers are for the most part idiots and clueless. They are watching the fucking TV and can't split a pot to save their lives. I was on, what my friend calls "dealer tilt", and this fucking game will do it to you. Most of the dealers are not experienced in dealing this game fast nor care to learn.
We finally get a great fast dealer and the game just went nuts. Lots of raising and huge pots. Then he left and the pace of the game dictates the action, which meant it was crawiling again with no action.
I finally cracked and couldn't cope with the dealers. I started telling them how to speed up, like to burn and turn then bring in the bets and immediately prompt the 1st player to act. They didn't like this but fuck them. It helps us everyone, players, dealer's tips and the casino rake. I'm tired of being all polite and dealing with it. I'm going to be a fucking asshole with incompetent lazy people and demand they get their shit together, not just with dealers but in general.
So the game... I lost two very large pots to take a little loss. I pushed my hands hard the whole way, like I should have, and it didn't work out. Whatever.

June 26, 2006, 11PM: Played 10 hours, 30 minutes, Made $166.00 at Rio, WSOP
$500 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (91st out of 1232 Players)
Strange tourney. Only start with 1K in chips and 25-25 blinds. You have to win 1st hand or you are crippled.
I started off good as my table was very tight and weak opponents. Just picked up blinds with no resistance.
Got moved around alot and was not feeling well. Drank too much coffee and did not eat enough so had sour stomach.
Got settled at a table and picked up a nice chunck with J2s when I flopped a flush from the small blind. Then moved yet again.
All in all played aggressive and strong. Never picked up a hand and doubled up. Just survived off blinds and no shows.
Went for it when close to the money, ran it up to 17K but then lost 3 all-in showdowns to drop me to less than 5K. Ac7c vs KcQc, 55 vs AJ and TT vs 88. So that was no fun.
Although not finacially successful day very rewarding mentally with good momentum and confidence.

The Napa Valley Casino
For those who do not know the Napa Valley Casino holds a special place with myself and DeDobber ( Rob, our lovely programmer building this site, who although is a bit of a slacker is doing a wonderful job ;) When we were 16 and 17 years old his father had taken us their to play our very first live game of poker in a casino ( after giving us some preparations and schooling ) He just said I was his nephew and Rob was his son. Back then it seemed only the old guys would play and to have fresh young blood in the establishment that would have a good 50 years of playing ahead of them would be very beneficial to the club. Also, the laws back then weren't so anal as they are today so they didn't really care.
So tonight Mike ( my sister's man ) and I after being teased with my parents home tournament decided to roll down there. It was actually his idea but how hard is it to convince me to go play?
The place has had banner up saying it is under new ownership/management and I have been curious as to what they have changed. I did meet one of the future owners a couple of years or so ago playing 20-40 at the Bellagio but thought it was just all talk. It was not.
I must give kudos to the new ownership/management at Napa Valley Casino. They really are doing things right and have made the room into a very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. They will have their tournament schedule out soon which is low limit/new player friendly but as well caters to more serious players as they will have $100 buy-ins. Their website should be complete soon for those that live in this area and want to know what game and tournaments are available, their url is www.TheNapaValleyCasino.com
Their location is in American Canyon, between Napa and Valleo, off of Hwy 29, you can't miss it.

$3/6 Omaha Hi-Lo
This game was painfully slow. The players were just enjoying themselves too much, which is a great thing but slowed down the game more than I generally like.
It was your typical low limit omaha8 game. 4-8 players seeing the flop EVERY hand regardless of how many bets it was to them. Easy to trap them for 2-3 bets pre flop as long as they did not have to cold call. If they had one bet in though, they were not folding. Which made it nice since I had the only pre-raiser(besides myself) on my left and he telgraphed his intentions.
It is hard to loose in such a game, if it were just at a faster pace and maybe 4-8 or 6-12 you could really do well in it.

$3 Pot-Limit Texas Hold'em
This game is a dream come true. It is a pot limit game but all the players are limit players "trying" to play bigger.
It was very passive, everyone was limping pre-flop and if they raised they just made it double to go and rarely did someone pot bet it pre-flop if more than one player called.
The few times I did pot bet from the button everyone reluctanly folded except for a stubborn one who had a stack of about 1K and was an open book. If this guy had a hand he would hold his cards with his left hand and overbet the pot with $5 red chips. If he had a draw or was bluffing at it he would not hold his cards and bet $1 white chips in stacks or 3 or 4 about 3-6 wide trying to intimidate making his bet look bigger.
(*a tell I have noticed is when players bet and hold tightly onto their cards, most always this signifies a strong hand, pay attention to this.
Another tell is when someone says to the player on their right, "it is your turn" and then when it is checked to them they bet. This shows they are very interested in the hand and impatient to bet. I even catch myself doing that from time to time.)
The rest of the players were very very tight and got out of the way. The only other one to worry about was an older gentleman with about $1500 in chips. He was extremely passive and would never value bet the river afraid of being check raised nor did he semi-bluff bet on his draws, so again an easy opponent to read.
If the game had not broke down I could have had a nice hit.
